Tenerife South Airport (TFS): what you need to know

Full name: Aeropuerto de Tenerife Sur Reina Sofía. Opened in 1978, it serves the south coast of the island. IATA code TFS, ICAO GCTS.

TFS is the main airport on Tenerife for tourists. The northern airport, Tenerife North (TFN), or Los Rodeos, mainly handles inter-island flights and connections to mainland Spain. If you arrive on a charter from Germany, the UK or elsewhere, you almost certainly land at TFS.

Where we meet you at TFS

The meeting point is car park P6B at TFS. It is a short-stay car park right by the terminal, a 2–3 minute walk from arrivals. Our agent waits for you at P6B at a pre-agreed spot — we send the parking-bay number and a photo of the car on WhatsApp.

How it works:

1. You land at TFS, clear passport control and collect your luggage
2. You leave the terminal and walk to car park P6B — our agent is already waiting by the car
3. We check the car and sign the contract (5 minutes)
4. You drive off

No shuttle buses. Unlike the big international chains, our office is not 10 km from the airport — we bring the car straight to you, at the exit.

For night flights (after 22:00) we leave the car at P6B and hand over the keys through a dedicated key safe with instructions on WhatsApp. You sign the contract in the morning, whenever it suits you.

How long it takes from TFS to the main resorts

All the main southern resorts are within 20 minutes of TFS. Even the farthest point (Anaga in the north-east) is about an hour away.

Hotel delivery: free or €40?

If you would rather not deal with the car straight away at the airport, we will bring it to any hotel on Tenerife:

• Delivery to the south (Costa Adeje, Las Américas, Los Cristianos, Playa Paraíso, Los Gigantes):
  — 1–3 day rental: €40
  — 4+ day rental: FREE
• Delivery to TFS airport: always FREE
• Night delivery/return (20:00–08:00): +€40

The best-value option is to collect the car at TFS and save the €40. The drive to your hotel is just 15–20 minutes on the easy TF-1 motorway.

Parking at TFS airport

TFS has several car parks:

• P6B (our meeting point) — short-stay car park by the terminal, a 2–3 minute walk from arrivals. This is where we bring the car for you.
• P1, P2 (short-stay) — next to the terminal, for brief stops
• P3 (long-stay) — cheaper, for longer parking

If you are leaving your own car at TFS while you travel, we recommend the long-stay P3 (around €5/day). If you rent from us, though, you won't need parking at all.

Which car to choose at TFS?

Family of 4 for a week in Costa Adeje

Go for the standard class — VW Golf, Hyundai i30, Renault Megane or similar. From €18/day, a roomy boot and economical fuel use. With two children and lots of luggage, choose a 7-seat people carrier.

A couple on a romantic break

A convertible is ideal. We have 19 models from Mini to Ferrari. For a budget of €50–80/day, try the Audi A5 Cabrio or the Mercedes E 450 Cabrio.

Business trip / premium class

Bentley Continental GTC, Porsche 911 Carrera 4S or Audi S5 Cabrio. All automatic, with leather and navigation.

Active trips and island excursions

For trips to Teide, Anaga or Masca, choose an SUV or a powerful saloon. The TF-21 hairpins need strong brakes — small economy cars aren't ideal here, so go for something with more power.

Budget option

The mini class from €12.80/day. Perfect for two people with a large suitcase plus a backpack, and easy to park in the narrow streets of Garachico or Puerto Santiago.

Can I rent a car right at the TFS arrivals hall?

Yes, our agent meets you at car park P6B. There is nowhere to walk to — book online in advance and we will be waiting for your flight.

What if my flight is delayed?

We track your flight online using the number on your booking. If it is delayed, our agent adjusts automatically, at no extra cost.

Can I return the car at night at TFS?

Yes, returns are 24/7. After 22:00 you leave the car at car park P6B, drop the keys in the dedicated key safe and send us a photo on WhatsApp. Confirmation arrives in the morning.

Do you accept debit cards?

Yes, we accept debit and credit Visa/Mastercard, cash, AmEx and JCB. The deposit is usually €100–300 (depending on the car category) and is refunded in full when you return the car in the same condition.

How long does check-in take at TFS?

5–10 minutes. The contract is already prepared from your booking details — you just check the car and sign.

Can I return the car at TFN (Tenerife North)?

Yes, delivery between the airports is available. There is an €80 surcharge for changing airport (if you return somewhere other than where you collected).
